  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium sweet onion, diced
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped (or ½ tsp dried)
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped (or ½ tsp dried)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté the onions until translucent.
  3. Add ground meat to the skillet, breaking it up as it cooks until fully browned (5–7 minutes).
  4. Stir in diced carrots and frozen peas; cook until veggies soften slightly.
  5. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; add thyme and rosemary. Simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.
  6. Boil cubed potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter and cream until smooth.
  7. Spread the meat filling in a baking dish; top with mashed potatoes and create peaks using a fork.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
