- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 6–8 tbsp cold water
- 1 cup fruit preserves (such as cherry or apple)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Egg wash (1 egg mixed with 1 tbsp water)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add cold water until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix fruit preserves, cream cheese, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into tree shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place a spoonful of filling on half of each tree cutout. Fold over the other half and seal edges with a fork.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush unbaked hand pies with egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
