  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat until smooth.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until glossy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt; then fold into the wet mixture.
  6. Gently incorporate chopped apples into the batter.
  7. Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish and pour in the batter, spreading evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
