  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz canned diced tomatoes
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef or sausage until fully cooked.
  2. Stir in chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until onions are translucent.
  3. Add canned tomatoes (with juices), tomato sauce, and chicken broth; mix well.
  4. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; let simmer for about 15 minutes.
  5. Add broken lasagna noodles and cook until tender according to package instructions.
  6. Remove from heat, serve hot with dollops of ricotta cheese on top and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
