- 3–4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (1 lb)
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese (grated)
- 2 cups whole milk
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish.
- Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente (6-7 minutes). Drain.
- In a skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter over medium heat, add diced chicken breasts, and sauté until golden brown (5-7 minutes).
- In a saucepan, melt remaining butter over medium heat. Stir in flour for 1 minute then whisk in milk until smooth.
- Gradually add grated cheese until melted and creamy.
- Combine cooked pasta with sautéed chicken and cheese sauce; season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer to the baking dish, topping with panko mixed with melted butter.
