  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup lager or pale ale
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 12 oz sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Sear seasoned steak bites for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until golden brown (about 1 minute). Gradually add milk and beer while whisking until smooth.
  4. Reduce heat to low; stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Fold cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce; mix in the steak bites.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer mixture to a baking dish and bake uncovered for about 20 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
