- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, mashed
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Reserve some crumbs for topping later.
- Mix in the beaten egg until just combined.
- In another bowl, mash strawberries with sugar and lemon juice until chunky.
- Press two-thirds of the crust mixture into the pan's bottom. Spread strawberry filling over it and sprinkle remaining crumbs on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before slicing.
