  • 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix ground meat with garlic, onion, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper. Form into small meatballs.
  3. Bake meatballs on a tray for about 20 minutes until browned.
  4. While meatballs bake, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until golden brown.
  5. Whisk together heavy cream, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. In a baking dish, layer half the potato slices at the bottom. Add meatballs on top followed by half the creamy sauce mixture; repeat layers.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.
