Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb white fish fillets (cod or haddock)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 2 cups lettuce (romaine or iceberg)
  • 1/2 cup tartar sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour seasoned with salt and pepper, another with beaten eggs, and the last with panko breadcrumbs mixed with cayenne pepper.
  2. Coat each fish fillet in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg, followed by the breadcrumb mixture until well-coated.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat (about 350°F). Fry the breaded fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Toast brioche buns lightly. Spread tartar sauce on one half, add lettuce, place the crispy fish fillet on top, and finish with another bun half.
  5. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
