- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh thyme or rosemary, chopped
- 1 ½ cups buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt until smooth.
- Gently fold in cheddar cheese and fresh herbs.
- In another bowl, mix buttermilk until well combined. Add to the dry ingredients; stir until the mixture forms a thick, slightly sticky dough.
- Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead gently just until combined (about five times). Shape into a round loaf.
- Place loaf on the prepared baking sheet and cut an 'X' on top for rising. Bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
