  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat; let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together brown sugar and granulated sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually mix into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in apples and nuts if using.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
