Ingredients

  • 2 lbs flank steak
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro (optional), for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the flank steak in a mixture of lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the marinated steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
  3. Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain into thin strips.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions until soft. Add any remaining marinade and return sliced steak to the skillet; toss to combine over low heat for another 3-4 minutes.
  5. Serve warm garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
